I started hooking rugs, designing patterns and dyeing wool in 2001. Ever since I can remember, I have had the good fortune to be exposed to a variety of art mediums, watercolor and oil painting, drawing, sculpture, lead glass – pottery and quilting. I studied at The Society of Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan.
In 1980, I was introduced to fiber art. As a cosmetologist, color was of natural interest to me. I had a great opportunity to study under some of the best color educators in the world. In 2001, I was introduced to rug hooking. Since then, rug hooking, and all it's elements have become my passion. I have hooked over 160 rugs, from orientals, to pictorials and primatives. Designed 40 of my own patterns, formulated 2 dye books (Ewenique Dye Books I and II) which has 110 of my 750 formulas. From my salon to my kitchen stove with wool, coloring fiber has been my passion. As a teacher, I have had the opportunity to expand my creativity and friendships.
